Discontinued Parts Are Skyrocketing! Check Out June’s Hottest Chip Part Numbers
2025-06-26

This month, several chips—either already discontinued or nearing end-of-life—have seen a surge in market attention. Notably, this includes DDR4 products from major vendors like Samsung and Micron, as well as select legacy parts from other manufacturers. We’ve compiled a list of part numbers that have recently seen increased inquiries and rising interest—worth keeping an eye on.

Micron

DDR4 MT40A512M16TB-062E

In June, demand for the Micron MT40A512M16TB-062E surged dramatically, pushing prices from around $1 at the beginning of the year to approximately $3 today.

This is a high-density, high-performance, and low-power 8Gb (512Mx16) DDR4 SDRAM widely used in high-performance computing, servers, consumer electronics, and networking devices. Another 8Gb DDR4 chip from Micron, the MT40A512M16LY-075:E, is also seeing peak demand. Its price has climbed to around $3, up from under $2 at the start of the year.

Samsung

DDR4 K4A8G165WC-BCTD

The price of Samsung’s K4A8G165WC-BCTD jumped sharply this month—from around $3 in May to about $7 in June. This is an 8Gb (512Mx16) DDR4 SDRAM, commonly used in servers, AI acceleration, and networking equipment. STMicroelectronics STM32F103C8T6 Interest in the STM32F103C8T6 continued to cool this month, with both demand and pricing returning to typical levels—about $0.50 per unit.

This device is part of the STM32F103 series of microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M3 core. The STM32F103C8T6 is one of the most popular low-density models in the family, featuring 16KB/32KB Flash and 6KB/10KB RAM. It's widely used in small projects and educational applications.

TDK

PH100F24-24

TDK-Lambda products saw a significant rise in market attention this month, especially the PH100F24-24. Prices for this part now range from $140 up to as high as $1,400. The PH100F24-24 is a 24V 100W DC-DC converter from TDK-Lambda. It has been officially discontinued, with last shipments made in 2017. “A module that was selling for just a few dozen dollars in February jumped to $700 in May, and further surged past $1,000 in June.

TDK-Lambda, a subsidiary of the TDK Group, specializes in industrial-grade power supplies. As part of TDK’s Power Systems division, it is recognized globally as a top brand in industrial power solutions, serving high-reliability sectors including medical, factory automation, telecom, and test equipment.

Altera (Intel)

 EP1C6Q240C8N

The EP1C6Q240C8N has maintained strong momentum in recent months, with stable pricing currently between $9 and $11. This part has been officially discontinued. It belongs to the Cyclone I series from Altera (now Intel’s FPGA division) and is a cost-effective, entry-level FPGA.

It's ideal for applications requiring moderate logic resources with constraints on cost and power. Typical use cases include industrial control, communications, embedded electronics, consumer devices, and educational development boards.

Texas Instruments (TI)

 DRV8332DKDR

The DRV8332DKDR saw a steep rise in market interest this month. Although it's a discontinued part, demand has increased noticeably. Prices have risen from just a few dollars to tens—or even over a hundred dollars in some cases.

Its typical market price used to be around $5 to $6. This is part of TI’s DRV83x2 series of three-phase PWM motor drivers. It's a high-performance integrated motor driver with advanced protection features, used in brushless DC motors, three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors, inverters, half-bridge drivers, and robotics control systems.

SN65LBC184DR

Interest in the SN65LBC184DR has been rising steadily since the start of the year, recently reaching a new high. Market prices currently range from $0.20 to $0.40, with some sellers quoting $0.60 to $1.60. According to TI’s official site, unit pricing varies between $1.30 and $2.70 depending on order quantity. This is a TI RS-485 transceiver used in industrial networking, utility meters, and motor control systems.
